PERSONAL LITERARY CARTOGRAPHY

Book cover markers can be shown or hidden using the toggle in the header. The first books on the list are famous travel novels with mapped routes; these can also be toggled for clarity.

DISCLAIMER: This map is not a complete guide to all fiction set in real places. It’s just a selection of books I actually managed to read and liked. Yes, I know, Macondo isn’t real, but almost everyone agrees it’s heavily inspired by García Márquez’s hometown, Aracataca. Same goes for the Brontë sisters’ moors or Hardy’s Christchurch.

Some obvious omissions: Ulysses in Dublin? Rayuela in Paris? Tried and failed. Oliver Twist, Lord Jim, The Grapes of Wrath, Les Miserables, The Midnight Children... Great reads, but I haven’t opened them yet.

This map is a mix of triumphs, failures, and questionable taste. If a book isn’t here, either I haven’t read it, or I didn’t think it deserved a spot

Enjoy the journey!
